Production Queue Dates, Delivery Dates & How It All Works – IMPORTANT PLEASE READ!

UPDATED: 12th April 2021

As many of you are aware, there is a European shortage of ACQ timber used in the production of Garden Timber Company ponds due to restrictions caused by lockdowns (national and within Europe). This means that production of the ponds is nowhere near as fast as it used to be. Resulting in production dates and queues within those given dates. We do have stock, but ponds are selling fast, so if you see a pond you like in stock and don’t want to wait, order it right away. Otherwise, order your pond as a pre-order and secure delivery for the dates below.

Current dates as of the time of writing are:

Date Ordered W/C       Delivery W/C from Manufacturer (GTC)

15th Feb 2021                       12th April 2021
22nd Feb 2021                      19th April 2021
1st March 2021                     26th April 2021
6th March 2021                     3rd May 2021
13th March 2021.                  10th May 2021
19th March 2021.                  17th May 2021
29th March 2021.                  24th May 2021
4th April 2021.                        1st June 2021
11th April 2021                       7th June 2021
16th April 2021                       14th June 2021

Future dates not listed above are likely to be within the similar time frames, between 6-8 week from order date.

It is important to note the queue is with the Garden Timber Company and not us. We, like many retailers, place the order with the Garden Timber Company, who will then place your order with the other orders from other retailers in that queue. Unfortunately, we are not shown or are told where our orders are in their queuing system, only the delivery week.

Shropshire Raised Ponds has a great relationship with the Garden Timber Company (GTC) and as a result, it has been known for us to have our orders shipped sooner, due to the quantities we order from GTC.

We hope that this clears up some of the confusion, some of our customers have had regarding the production queues. Certainly we wish things were different and they used to be. We are very grateful to the understanding and patience most of our customers have shown us, especially given that we are a small business and with the restrictions and shortages, we are all doing our best to be competitive, offer a good service and provide you with the pond of your dreams.

Pond Delivery July/August

There continues to be sporadic supply of ACQ timber for use in the production of the ponds with the Garden Timber Company. Current estimates on delivery on orders received in mid-June onwards are July with some slipping into August. The Garden Timber Company are working around the clock to build the ponds and to secure further supply of the timber used. All retailers of these and similar ponds will be facing the same issue.

Finally we have something solid with regards dates and time frames. The Garden Timber Company have just updated their trade website and for all the ponds they manufacture, they have this information:

As you can see, the date when production is due to start is the 6th of July 2020. Those that have pre-ordered ponds, will be the first in line for this initial production run.

Lead Time Update

Our pond supplier, The Garden Timber Company are continuing to have issues with gaining a reliable supply of the timber used in the production of their ponds. Some ponds are available with relatively short lead times of 10 days, but unfortunately, some are not available now till mid/late June. This is a fluctuating issue. For example, we were told that pond supply on all ponds would be late June/July, then they received a supply of timber and were able to produce ponds. Now that supply is diminishing.

The best advice we can give is that you place a pre-order for the pond, through the website. We will keep you updated as to its progress, but with a view of receiving the pond in late June.

We understand that this flip-flopping on availability is annoying and believe me, it is causing us a great many headaches for us. Needless to say, those that place pre-orders are booked in with the manufacturer, and the GTC will produce ponds for those that pre-ordered first.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Delivery / Lead Time Updates

Finally, we have some good news. The manufacturer of our ponds, the Garden Timber Company – Pastica Limited, are now producing ponds once again, after securing more supply of the hardwood used.

Lead times are now reaching normality thankfully. With lead times ranging from 7 to 10 days, most ponds are going out pretty quickly. The courier will call you to arrange delivery once your pond has finished production.

I want to personally thank all our loyal customers old and new for their patience.

Stay safe.

European Hard Wood Shortage – New Stock May/June [Update]

Unfortunately, there is currently a shortage of the hardwood used in the production of our ponds. The Garden Timber Company (Plastica Ltd) who manufactures the ponds, has informed us that new timber is due in May/June and ponds that will be available for production will begin throughout May/June as the supply of timber returns to normal. Ponds will be produced in date order by the Garden Timber Company.

All retailers selling The Garden Timber Company Ponds and in many cases, any wooden pond will be affected by this issue.

Equipment, filter media, Koi food, and other supplies are not affected.

The reason for the lack of hardwood is because of the lockdown measures put in place throughout the UK and Europe. Supplies have started to dry up and new timber will only start to come through as the lockdowns begin to ease, which is what we are seeing in Europe and eventually the UK.

The other reason why there is a shortage, is quite simply, with people being stuck at home, it has meant more and more people wanting to build a pond. It is great to see more people join this amazing, challenging, and beautiful hobby.

I want to thank you all for your patience, your understanding, and your patronage.

Stay safe.

Plastica Limited, who manufacture our ponds, have heard today that new timber will be available in May/June 2020. They do have some stock to build certain ponds and are producing those as I write this.

Ponds that are marked as SOLD OUT, the timber to make these will likely be back in stock in May/June 2020. Please keep checking the site for updates on stock.

We understand that this is an issue and causes a delay for many of your projects out there. Needless to say, that all suppliers of wooden ponds will have the same issues. Please keep visiting the site to be updated on stock.

If the situation changes, we will update everyone on the website.
